I believe that Verso's version is the real one as Maelle just wants to continue living a delusion, and not move on and heal. Consciously choosing to delude herself forever instead of accepting death as being part of life. Verso's decision to end the dream is the reality of someone that cares about you as a person, they would want you to move on and get better, not lie to yourself. This ending made me think a lot about my personal experiences with accepting the death of someone close, and trying to move on. However I also see this as a symbolism for people that consciously choose to live only in an online space instead of living in the real world. Social media gives the facade of interaction and "caring" about someone, but in reality if something happens to you, most likely none is going to be there. You have to be able to accept and let go of things, such is life.

In the end you can see Maelle having this peaceful smile, moving on and accepting what happened. Still missing her brother, but she is free of that endless lying to herself.
