You want to "seal" a gasket, you're looking for more of an adhesive product than an RTV. Copper Coat, Indian Head, High Tack, Gasgacinch, Permatex #1, 2, or 3; Hylomar, or a hundred other gasket dressings will be FAR better than RTV on a gasket. For the record, Gasgacinch does almost everything Hylomar does, at 1/10th the price (or less).
