features of rackets
- flexibility
- ranges from 'flexible' to 'stiff'
- flexible rackets are better for beginners (generates more speed)
- flexible rackets are better for people with shoulder injuries as well
- balance
- three categories mostly: head light, even balance & head heavy
- playing style comes into the picture here to decide perfect balance for ourselves.
- head heavy racket gives more power to your smashes.
- for net players, who like to play fast & flat games, head light rackets are better.
- weight
- 6U is the lightest (70-75g)
- 2U is the highest (90-94g)
- lighter rackets are more preferrable for beginners.
- 4u & 5u seems good options.
- grip size
- G4 (larger grip), G6 (smaller grip)
- better to go with thinner grip as we can always cushion or extra grip around it.
- smaller grip is better for people with smaller hands as well (not me :P)
- string tension
- each racket mentions what's the max tension their strings can take
- higher tension is more suited for intermediate & advanced players.
- if the material quality is good, you can get racket's tension increased even more than the recommended value.
Other Tips
- avoid aluminium frame rackets. graphite is the best.
- 28lbs - 32lbs is good tension range.
