             Officers of the Court: High Court vs Magistrates' Court

                         HIGH COURT (HC)

1. JUDGE

2. REGISTRAR

4. TAX MASTER

   - Party can recover part of their legal costs after the conclusion of a case.
   - **Party/party costs**: Limited recovery of necessary costs incurred in defense.
   - **Attorney-and-own-client costs**: Higher level of costs, often punitive, for cases deemed frivolous or unnecessary (e.g., vicarious litigation, hindering public participation).
   - Tax Master decides which costs are justifiable and recoverable.

5. MASTER OF THE HIGH COURT
   - Handles the administration of estates, trusts, and insolvencies.
   - Responsible for appointing executors, curators, and trustees.

6. LEGAL PRACTITIONERS (Advocates and Attorneys)
   - Advocates represent clients in court, preparing arguments and advising on complex legal matters.

3. SHERIFF OF THE COURT
   - Delivers legal documents and ensures the enforcement of court orders.

4. TAXING MASTER
   - Similar to the High Court, responsible for determining the "Bill of Costs."
   - Determines the extent to which legal costs can be recovered.

5. LEGAL PRACTITIONERS (Attorneys)
   - Attorneys represent clients, offer legal advice, and manage cases within the Magistrates' Court.
