Many students struggle with procrastination especially on the university level. Students often encounter obstacles that hamper their workflow, whether they are external factors which may be life gets in the way, or poor time management. But the one factor that obstructs work the most is undoubtedly just plain old laziness. This then is a problem of that can be associated with mental health. A possible solution, although heavily discouraged, is to disregard mental health completely. Sometimes the reason told to yourself not to do an assignment might be: “I am not feeling so well.” , “I should to go out with my friends.” Or, “There’s so much work to be done.” Absolutely forcing yourself, might you despise every step of the process, every second you lose a bit of your soul. This can be done by removing every distraction that you can think of; deleting social media, denying invites, sleep deprivation, eat meals only for energy and, doing things that need to be done as much and as long as you can. Because the hardest part of doing something is getting started, you can never struggle with that if you never stop. This also forces you to only do the task at hand because there is no other option. Another more healthier, although may or may not harder to achieve due to requiring a balance of work and life; is to take aspects of the first solution but to a lesser extent. Instead of bulldozing through all tasks, split your work time into different parts of the day, not only you get the same amount of study time, but work is also more efficient. For example; instead of studying from 7 pm to 3 am, and waking up at 10, then going to university, going to sleep around midnight then waking up at 7 am, then continue working to 10, then going. Distraction deprivation might be too much. Instead, remind yourself, set an alarm or set a limit for indulgent activities. Have a rough plan of your day. This could still not work because you need to respect the rules and limits you set for yourself. But nonetheless a way healthier option. From the paragraphs written above, procrastination is a result of mental health, if you realize that, you can take advantage; a single solution may not work for everyone; whether forcing yourself that tasks needs to be finished, or using mental resilience to keep yourself, your health, both physical and mental health in line.
