  1. Follow Rediquette.
  2. Keep posts relevant to the subreddit. Broadly speaking, anything concerning Kenya is welcome. Some exceptions apply: for memes use, matters use r/kenyanmemes. For help with Swahili, use r/swahili or the pinned threads. For art and photos, use r/kenyanart. For questions that are not open-ended and only require a quick answer please use the pinned open discussion threads.
  3. No low effort posts. As the subreddit grows and the volume of posts with it, the need to be regulate them becomes a necessity. As such, we favour posts that are in-depth, insightful, analytical, and encourage discussion, over posts that have little substance and little educational value. Examples include memes; unsourced historical pictures with no context and information; screenshots from social media, and so on.
  4. No self-promotion. Unfortunately it is not feasible to dedicate the frontpage to promote everyone’s YouTube channel, merchandise, website, subreddit, business, and so on. We ask that you use the pinned open discussion threads instead, where you can promote your content, engage with the community, and get feedback.
  5. Anything that is hateful, sexist or bigoted, spam, or 'trolling' to offend the users here will be removed.Homophobia is strictly forbidden. There are plenty of online Kenyan spaces where LGBT people are vilified and their existence constantly scrutinized, this does not have to be one of them. No one cares if you "don’t approve".
  6. No preaching. This is not a religious subreddit. There is no obligation for anyone to abide by your religious values, and preaching is not tolerated.
  7. This is not a photo album. All non-original photograph posts – cities, nature, etc. – belong in the open discussion threads or r/Kenyanart. add rules about posting photos here.
