1) The attainment of ten blessings from Allah ﷻ from sending one blessing upon the Prophet ﷺ
Sayyiduna Abu Hurayra رضي الله عنه reported that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, “Whoever confers one blessing upon me, Allah confers ten blessings upon him.”
►Sahih Muslim Hadith 408

2) Additionally ten sins are also removed and our status are elevated tenfolds
Sayyiduna Anas رضي الله عنه narrates that the Noble Prophet ﷺ said, “Whoever confers one blessing upon me, Allah confers ten blessings upon him, forgives ten of his sins and elevates his status tenfold.”
►Sunan an-Nasa'i 1297

3) Closest to the Prophet ﷺ
Sayyiduna ʿAbdullah ibn Masʿud رضي الله عنه narrates that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, “Indeed, those closest to me on the Day of Judgement will be those who confer blessings upon me the most.”
►Sunan Tirmidhi 484

4) Angels convey the salutations to the beloved prophet ﷺ
Sayyiduna ʿAbdullah bin Masʿud رضي الله عنه narrates that the Noble Prophet ﷺ said, “Allah has certain angels who roam the earth and convey the salutations of my followers to me.”
►Sunan an-Nasa'i 1282

5) Prophet ﷺ is aware of us and knows name of the recitor and his father
Sayyiduna ʿAmmar ibn Yasir رضي الله عنه narrates that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, “Verily, Allah has appointed an angel at my grave to whom he has granted the ability to hear the whole creation. Thus, until the Day of Judgment there is no person who confers blessings upon me except that this angel conveys to me the blessings of this person with his name and his father’s name, saying, ‘The son of so-and-so person has conferred blessings upon you.’”
►Imam Bukhari in Tarikh al Kabir 6/416
►Al-Bazzar in Musnad 2/266
More than one attributed it to al-Tabarani in "Mujma al Kabir".

6) Prophet ﷺ hears the salutation
Sayyiduna Abu Hurayra رضي الله عنه narrates that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, “Whoever confers blessings upon me by my grave, I hear his blessings and whenever blessings are conferred upon me from a distance, they are conveyed to me.”
►It was included by Abu al-Sheikh in “Kitab al-Thawab” and al-Bayhaqi in Shu’ab al-Iman (218/2), Life of the Prophets (pg/488 also by al-Bayhaqi), Shifa al-Saqqam (pg. 49-50). (488/6).

Interesting note :
Ibrahim bin Shayban رضي الله عنه says, “After completing the hajj, I travelled to Madina Munawwara and went to the blessed grave of the Noble Prophet ﷺ. I conferred salutations and heard ‘Salutations upon you too (wa ʿalayka ’l-salam)’ from within the blessed chamber.”

7) Removes worries and sins

Sayyiduna Ubayy ibn Kaʿb رضي الله عنه says, “I asked, ‘O Messenger of Allah, I wish to confer blessings upon you in abundance. How much of my time set aside for supplication should I devote to this purpose?’
The Noble Prophet ﷺ replied, ‘As much as you wish.’
I asked, ‘A fourth?’
The Noble Prophet ﷺ replied, ‘As much as you wish, and if you make an increase therein it shall be better for you.’
I further enquired, ‘A half?’
The Noble Prophet ﷺ again said, ‘As much as you wish, and if you make an increase therein it shall be better for you.’
I asked, ‘Two thirds?’
The Noble Prophet ﷺ replied, ‘As much as you wish, and if you make an increase therein it shall be better for you.’
I said, ‘I shall devote all my time to conferring blessings upon you.’
The Noble Prophet ﷺ said, ‘In that case, all your worries will be removed and your sins will be forgiven.’”
►Jami` at-Tirmidhi 2457

8) Gain intercession of the beloved prophet ﷺ
Sayyiduna Abu Darda رضي الله عنه narrates that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, “Whoever confers blessings upon me ten times in the morning and ten times in the evening will gain my intercession on the Day of Judgement.”
►Al-Tabarani narrated it with two chains of narrators, and one of its chains of narrators is good, and its men are trustworthy, as in Majma’ al-Zawa’id (10/123).

9a) Angels present these blessings to Allah ﷻ then they are presented to the prophet ﷺ who seeks forgiveness on our behalf
Sayyidatuna A`ishah رضي الله عنها narrates that the Prophet ﷺ said, “No servant confers blessings upon me except that an angel ascends with these blessings presenting them before Allah. Our Lord most Exalted then orders, ‘Take these blessings to the grave of my servant, who shall seek forgiveness on behalf of the suppliant and who shall be pleased with this.’”

9b) It is a substitute for Charity

Sayyiduna Abu Saʿid Khudri رضي الله عنه narrates that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, “Whichever Muslim does not have anything to give in charity should say, ‘O Allah, confer blessings upon Muhammad, your servant and your Messenger, and confer blessings upon the believing men and the believing women, the Muslim men and Muslim women.’ This shall be a charity for this person.” He further said, “The believer is never satiated with acts of righteousness until Paradise becomes his abode.”
► (mentioned in Sahih Ibn Hibban)

10) Taught to us by the prophet ﷺ
‘Abd ar-Rahrman b. Abu Laila رضي الله عنه said that Ka‘b b. ‘Ujra رضي الله عنه met him and asked if he would like him to present him with something he had heard from the Prophet. He expressed his desire to hear it, and he said:
We asked Allah’s Messenger this question, “How is blessing to be invoked on you who belong to the prophetic family? God has taught us [only] how to salute you.” He told us to say, “O Allah, bless Muhammad and Muhammad’s family as Thou didst bless Abraham and Abraham’s family. Thou art indeed praiseworthy and glorious. O Allah, grant favours to Muhammad and Muhammad’s family as Thou didst grant favours to Ibrahim and Ibrahim’s family. Thou art indeed praiseworthy and glorious.”
►(Bukhari and Muslim, but Muslim did not mention Ibrahim in the two places.)

11a) Allah ﷻ restores the prophets ﷺ soul and He ﷺ responds back
Abu Huraira رضي الله عنه reported The Prophet ﷺ as saying, “No one will express a greeting to me except Allah returns my soul to my body (in the grave) so that I may respond to his greeting.”
►Sunan Abu Dawud 2041

11b) Aws ibn Aws رضي الله عنه reported: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said:
Verily, the most virtuous of your days is Friday; on it Adam was created, on it he died, on it the trumpet will be blown and the shout will be made, so increase your supplications for me for indeed your supplications are presented to me.
They said, “O Messenger of Allah, how will our supplications reach you once you have decayed?” He said:
Verily, Allah the Exalted has forbidden the bodies of the prophets from decaying.

12) Prevents one's house from seeming like a grave
Abu Huraira رضي الله عنه reported: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “Do not make your homes into graves*, and do not make my grave into a place of celebration, but invoke blessings on me, for indeed your blessing will reach me wherever you are.” *This is a figurative expressive indicating that a house in which prayer is not offered is like a grave, as God is not worshipped there. (see my older posts in which this narration is explained)
►Sunan Abu Dawud 2044

13) It prevents a person from being degraded in their status
Abu Huraira رضي الله عنه reported: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “May he be abased who does not invoke a blessing on me when I am mentioned in his presence. May he be abased who passes through the whole of Ramadan before his sins are forgiven him. May he be abased one or both of whose parents have reached old age without causing him to enter paradise.* *This means that he has shown them no kindness. Tirmidhi transmitted it.

14) It pleases the beloved prophet ﷺ
It was narrated from Abdullah bin Abi Talha رضي الله عنه from his father, that: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ came one day with a cheerful expression on his face and said:
Jibril came to me and said my Lord says, “Will it not please you, O Muhammad, (to know) that no one of your Ummah will invoke a blessing on you without my blessing him ten times, and that none of your people will give you a greeting without my greeting him ten times?”
►Sunan an-Nasa'i 1295

15) It is Apart of Salah
Fadala b. ‘Ubaid رضي الله عنه said-that While the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was seated, a man entered and prayed saying, “O Allah, forgive me, and have mercy upon me.” The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “You who are praying are in a hurry. When you pray and come to the point when you sit, you should worthily extol Allah's praises, invoke blessing on me, and then make your supplication.” He said that afterwards another man prayed, extolling Allah’s praises and invoking a blessing on the Prophet, and the Prophet said to him, “You who are praying, if you make supplication you will receive an answer.”
►Jami` at-Tirmidhi 3476

16) Invoking the beloved prophet ﷺ before supplication is a means for it being answered
‘Abdallah b.
I was praying, and so was the Prophet accompanied by Abu Bakr and ‘Umar. When I sat I first extolled Allah's praises then invoked blessings on the Prophet, then made supplication for myself, and the Prophet said, “If you ask you will be given it, if you ask you will be given it.”

17) It saves one from being branded a miser if one were to omit it upon the Prophet’s name ﷺ being mentioned

Ali ibn Abu Talib رضي الله عنه reported: The Prophet ﷺ said: “The miserly one is the one whose presence I am mentioned and he does not invoke a blessing on me.”

18) Seventy blessings are attained

19) Guaranteed intercession

Ruwaih' رضي الله عنه reported the Messenger of Allah ﷺ as saying, “If anyone invokes a blessing on Muhammad saying, ‘O Allah, cause him to occupy the place near Thee on the day of resurrection’, he will be guaranteed my intercession.” Ahmad transmitted it.

20) Allah ﷻ blesses the person
‘Abd ar-Rahman b.
Allah’s Messenger went out and entering among some palm trees prostrated himself so long that I was afraid Allah had taken his soul. I went and looked, and he raised his head and said, “What is the matter with you? I mentioned that to him, and he told me that Gabriel had come and given him the good news that Allah said, “If anyone invokes one blessing on you I will bless him, and if anyone greets you I will greet him.” Ahmad transmitted it.
